James Peter Olson

Male 1839 - 1921  (81 years)

Personal Information    |    Sources    |    Event Map    |    All    |    PDF

  • Name James Peter Olson
    • Swedish Name: Jens Peter Olsen; have seen the family surnamed spelled both Olsen and Olson in various records
Born 28 Mar 1839  Jamjo, Karlskrona, Blekinge, Sweden Find all individuals with events at this location
    • Date is confirmed by Utah Death Certificate and headstone; the death certificate and census records confirm that he was born in Sweden - exact location comes from memorial on Find-a-Grave and is NOT otherwise sourced by me
    Gender Male
    Immigration Bef 15 Jun 1860
From Sweden to Utah: In the census records we are given to believe that he immigrated about 1862-1863; however, in the 1860 he and his wife can already be found in Sanpete County, Utah.
Census 15 Jun 1860  Fort Ephraim, Sanpete County, Utah Find all individuals with events at this location  [1
    POSSIBLE BUT NOT PROVEN:
Indexed incorrectly as "Jas Alsen," age 19 born abt 1841 in Denmark; in 1860 this is still the "Utah Territory"; male; nearest post office is Ephraim; he is indexed as farmer who owns real estate worth $200 and who owns personal property worth $300; he is indexed with wife Ana C. Alsen, age 18 - born in Denmark in 1842. It is unclear to me if this this is wife Margaret Christina Carolina Selena "Lena" Miller or if this is a prior wife. Margaret and James did not marry until 1863 (if the record on this is correct - as I have no source).
Nearby is the family of Rusmon Olson, 54 (with wife Ingeborg, 48 and children Ola, 20). It is unknown to me what, if any, relationship the families have.
