    Notes
    • Notes from niece, Nyna Slape: "I only remember them as older people. I know he was a thin man about 5'9" tall and Bertha (Bonnie?) was as tall as him and twice as big around. I can remember going to their house in Magnum, Oklahoma. I was fascinated with their house because it had a storm cellar, like the one in Wizard of Oz. Bertha kept her canned items down there - and she would send me down to get jars of vegetables to take home with me. I don't know why her canned vegetables were something I wanted to take home. We canned everything every summer, all summer long. (Uncle Oscar lived either in Chickasha or outside Altus. My mother's oldest brother Joe Curbow lived in Chickasha. He was a policeman.)
