William Davis Curbow

William Davis Curbow

Male 1873 - 1946  (73 years)

Personal Information    |    Sources    |    Event Map    |    All    |    PDF

  • Name William Davis Curbow  [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
    • His World War I Draft Registration Card - which was presumably filled out in his own hand indicates that his middle name was "DAVIS." His Texas Death Certificate - which was generated from hospital records indicates that his middle name was "DAVID."
    Nickname Will
Born 25 Jun 1873  Denison, Grayson County, Texas Find all individuals with events at this location
    • There is some discrepancy in the records pertaining to William's year of birth. His Texas death certificate, compiled from state hospital records (and not from a family informant), indicates that he was born in 1870 in Denison, Grayson County, Texas - this date is believed to be incorrect. His World War I Draft Registration card indicates that he was born in 1883. This too is believed to be incorrect. The card states that he was 45 in 1918 when he filled out the card. This puts his birth year at 1873 - which I believe is closer to the truth. Most of the census records bear this 1873 date out. For our purposes here, I will use the birth-date of 25 June 1873. (Note: Just received a copy of his obituary - Jul 2013 - and it states that he was 77 years old at the time of his death - which would place his birth year at about 1869!)

    Notes
    • William Davis Curbow's life is a mystery. I have been unable to locate him in the 1920 or 1930 census. I do not know if he married for a third time, if he had any other children or how he spent the ensuing years. Additionally, I have no information on what happened to daughter Mattie J. Curbow.
