    Notes
    • As told by his granddaughter, Beverly Neil Atwood {Blankenship} - February, 2008:
I thought he was one of the greatest men to ever live. He is buried at Cross Plains, Texas. My dad was a lot like PaPa, but I totally worshiped my PaPa. If I ever needed any thing I just went to him. He would not let my Mother hang out my clothes on the clothes line, because one time she hung socks in the wrong place. I slept with him. I sucked my thumb and Mother and Daddy had tried every thing to get me to stop, they put hot stuff on my thumb, as soon as we went to bed, he washed it off, they just could not imagine how I could stand that. They put a thumb guard on my thumb. When we went to bed he untied it and took it off, they really thought they had a smart child. Now you know how spoiled I was and why I loved him so much, he was my best friend. On his last birthday my aunt, Reba's mother baked him a birthday cake, it was either blue with pink birds or pink with blue birds. I sat in his lap and he picked the birds off for me to eat. It was hard for him to get out of my sight. We had gone to Winters one Saturday and I found a little horse I wanted, daddy said no, so I went to PaPa and when Mother and Daddy got back to the car there I set holding my new horse. Yes, I was spoiled.
