James Curbow |
Born |
Yes, date unknown |
- PLEASE NOTE: Regarding the parentage of James Curbow - Based on various records (census and a real estate transaction) and the close proximity of the families: I logically THINK that the father of James Curbow could be Henry B. Curbow (of Georgia 1770-1850). Long-time Curbow family researcher Carol Byrum concurs. HOWEVER, I have nothing definitive to tie James Curbow to Henry Curbow at this point. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSION.
Most of the trees on ancestry.com indicate that James was born about 1790; however, I do not have a source for this. If he is in fact the son of Henry B. Curbow - we know that Henry was in Edgefield County, South Carolina in 1790 - and this is where we find James in the 1810 census.

Died |
Yes, date unknown |
- It is presumed that James died prior to 1830 as his wife is alone in the 1830 census living with her children in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Many of the public trees on ancestry.com indicate that James died in Lincoln County, Tennessee; however, I have no source for this.
Notes from JoAnn Curbo: I have no record on James. I believe that he died early, possibly in one of the Indian battles that went on from time-to-time in Georgia. The reason I feel that he was the victim of an Indian skirmish or some contagious disease is the length of time most Curbows live.
There is no way to prove or disprove this theory as to the death of James Curbow. If he was born in 1790 and died sometime around 1830 - then he would have died before he was 40 years old.
