  • Name Mahala Curbow
    Born Yes, date unknown
    • PLEASE NOTE: Regarding the parentage of Mahala Curbow - Based on various records (census and a real estate transaction) and the close proximity of the families: I logically THINK that the father of Mahala Curbow could be Henry B. Curbow (of Georgia 1770-1850). HOWEVER, I have nothing definitive to tie Mahala Curbow to Henry Curbow at this point. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSION.

Most of the trees on ancestry.com indicate that Mahala was born about 1806 in Fayette County, Georgia; however, I do not have a source for this. If she is in fact the daughter of Henry B. Curbow - we know that Henry was present in:
1800 - Barnwall County, South Carolina
1805 - Abbeville County, South Carolina
      1809 - 1816 - Jackson County, Georgia

The census records for Mahala are as follows:
      1830 - female 15-20 years - 1810 - 1815
      1840 - female 20 thru 29 years - 1811 - 1820
1850 - Randolph County, Alabama census - born abt 1810 in Georgia
1850 - Heard County, Georgia census - born abt 1810 in South Carolina
1860 - born abt 1806 in South Carolina
Based on the census records, I believe she was born after 1806 - probably about 1809-1811 - and probably in Jackson County, Georgia.
