    • OBITUARY:
      Abe Davis, known to his friends as Uncle Abe, died Tuesday, Aug 9 at the home of his daughter Mrs. C. C. Kelley at Magnolia Springs after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Davis was born in Jasper County on the old Davis homestead near Beulah Springs August 28, 1856. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years. His wife, Mary Atwell Davis, died a year ago last March. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Allen DuBoss at the Davis Cemetery at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

      Surviving him are four sons Joe, Tom, Sam and Jeff Davis all of Jasper County and three daughters Mrs. Minnie Hyatt, Lola Simpson and Mrs. Annie Kelley all of Magnolia Springs, Texas. Five brothers Jerome of Security, Texas, William of Buna, Texas, J. R. Davis of Eclipse Fillling Station, north of Beulah Springs, Texas and Sherrod Davis of Kirbyville, Texas and one sister Priscilla Collison of Beaumont, Texas. Also several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

      The large crowd attending the funeral spoke of the high esteem in which he was held throughout this section.
