Barr Family History

John Barr and his two sons - David and John, Jr. came to the United States from Antrim County, Ireland, in the early 1800ís.  John, Jr. married Nancy Hamilton.  They had nine children.  In 1815, in Gibson County, Indiana, they had a son, Andrew Jackson Barr.  The Barrs moved to Texas, where Andrew Jackson married Nancy Knowles.  They had three sons and three daughters.  Born to them on Apr 6, 1852 was Edmond J. Barr.  Edmond J. Barr married Sarah Ann Arrowwood.  She died Sept 22, 1895.  Mr. Barr lived in Cross Plains, where he died Apr 11, 1911.  The children and grandchildren of Edmond J. and Sarah Barr were:  Charlie E. Barr married Essie Dee Hargrove; John A. Barr married Sally Derrington; Sam Barr married Belle Williams; Ida Frances Barr married James Samuel Harlow; Chess W. Barr married Minnie Atwood; Pink Barr married Ada Estella Williamson; Jim Barr married Mae Cade.  Second marriage was Becky Harwell.  John Barr has many descendants still living in Callahan County, Texas.  Submitted by Judy Barr.
