Alden Eugene Curbow
From the collection of Linda Curbow de Pino: "My father, Alden Eugene, Sr. at about age 14 or 15. The photo below is of him as a very young, but already seasoned welder at age 18! From what I understood, Daddy never even made it past junior high school. But he could weld. By the time he was in his thirties, he had earned the reputation of being, quite possibly, the finest welder in America, and was very widely sought after for jobs. He was known to travel as far as Alaska and Trinidad, just to do a single job. His welds were so strong that they would hold through any blast test around. And apparently, his lack of a formal education didn't hold him back. He knew more about the business and putting pipes together, and could fabricate a job down to the very inch. It wasn't long until he was always the foreman at the worksites. He was very well respected by his peers."
